Extracellular signals such as stiffness of the environment, presence of proteins, and tensile\/contractile forces can guide cells in a variety of functions such as cell growth, migration, and stem cell differentiation. The goal was to research how these extracellular signals propagate into the nucleus and influence the epigenetic landscape in order to change gene expression.[\/vc_column_text]<ul class=\"ul-withdetails \"><li class=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"wrap\"><div class=\"image\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/yanfen.li\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MechanoSensing.jpg);\"><div class=\"imageoverlay\"><i class=\"fa fa-search\"><\/i><\/div><\/div><div class=\"meta\"><h3>Influence of substrate stiffness on epigenetics<\/h3><p>The primary objective of this project is to explore how matrix mechanics and geometric confinement influence histone deacetylase (HDAC) activity in fibroblast culture. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"details\">\n\t\t\t<p>The propagation of mechanochemical signals from the extracellular matrix to the cell nucleus has emerged as a central feature in regulating cellular differentiation and de-differentiation.
